13.11.2017 Game on: Statista and Global Soccer Network enter soccer data partnership

Which player is worth their money? Which team has recently showed the best performance? Who is a strong runner? Answers to these questions are exciting and decision-relevant not only for soccer club talent scouts, but also for the media and all soccer fans among their users. As of now, Statista and the German start-up Global Soccer Network will cooperate in making such data available.

Global Soccer Network provides Statista with player, game and tournament analyses from the world of professional soccer. By means of various algorithms (so-called “advanced analytics”) and 22 billion data points, Global Soccer Network enables a detailed assessment of over 400,000 soccer players worldwide. Every country, every relevant league and every relevant tournament is covered. The analyses are furthermore not limited to the professional level, but also possible with regard to semi-professional and youth soccer.

The data from Global Soccer Network is also being used by renowned media outlets. For instance, the company provided the ARD - public TV network in Germany - with analyses of individual players or teams throughout this year’s Confederations Cup in Russia, which allowed for drawing conclusions regarding performance levels and giving assessments of the matches.

Other renowned customers and partners of Global Soccer Network are top clubs such as Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Porto, Rapid Wien or Galatasaray Istanbul. In addition, Global Soccer Network successfully cooperates with the Dutch TV station NOS and the IST University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf.

“We are very glad that one of the top companies of the global data research market recognizes the quality of our analyses and will rely on us to expand its data pool on soccer as part of a cooperation agreement. In return, Statista’s worldwide network will allow us to offer our studies and analyses to a wider audience and our target groups, which is something that has not been possible for us as a very young company so far”, comments Dustin Böttger, CEO of Global Soccer Network.

“We are very pleased to expand our data pool in the area of sport together with Global Soccer Network. The wide range of exclusive data from in-depth match and tournament analyses will perfectly complement our database on international soccer”, says Statista’s CEO, Friedrich Schwandt. “Global Soccer Network will – as part of our cooperation agreement – in return get access to Statista’s global user base, comprising some 4 million decision-makers, media partners and academics from around the world.”
