Low HDL cholesterol in adults in the U.S. 2015-2018, by age group and gender
The prevalence of low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol among adults aged 20 and over was 17.2 percent in 2015-2018 and was higher among those aged 20-39 and 40-59 than among those aged 60 and over. Furthermore, the prevalence of low HDL-C was over three times higher in men than among women.
