Net growth in usage of payment method usage during COVID-19 in Macao 2020, by type
A 2020 survey conducted in Macao reported a net increase in usage of cashless payment methods during COVID-19. Credit cards recorded a net increase of 43 percent, while peer-to-peer (P2P) payments also saw a rise, albeit negligible, at only one percent. On the other hand, cash payments seemed to have lost favor among consumers in Macao, witnessing a net decrease of 24 percent.
