U.S. consumers: daily coffee drinking consumption at home during the week 2019
Top Coffee Brands in the United States
There are dozens of ground coffee brands on the U.S. market but the most popular brand among Americans is Folgers, which generated sales of over a billion U.S. dollars in 2018. Private label regular ground coffee was the fourth leading brand in that category, with sales of 437.5 million U.S. dollars. A relatively new innovation in the coffee industry is the single-cup coffee brewing system. The leading vendor of single-cup coffee in the United States is Keurig Green Mountain.
U.S. Coffee Consumption
On average, Americans drink about two cups of coffee per day. This figure has remained somewhat stable over the last several years, dipping to 1.64 cups per day in 2016 before making a recovery in the next year. Perhaps due to coffee tolerance or physiological changes, the amount of coffee consumed by Americans tends to increase with age. The average 18 to 19 year old American drinks about one cup of coffee a day, while Americans aged 70 years and older drink three times that amount on average.
