Leading European pay TV operators ranked by number of subscribers 2023

This statistic provides a forecast on the number of subscribers of the largest European pay TV operators in 2023. For 2023, Sky Europe was forecast to have a customer base of nearly 15 million subscribers, up from approximately 10.4 million subscribers in 2014. Liberty Global, which was estimated to have roughly 18 million subscribers by that year, down from nearly 19 million subscriptions in 2014. Vodafone was the third largest pay TV operator in Europe. Sky is a British company operating in the telephone services, on-demand streaming and satellite broadcasting sectors. It is headquartered in London and Dublin and serves five European markets, i.e. Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
As of 2015, the European countries with the highest pay television penetration rate were the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway. For the same year, pay TV revenues were highest in the United Kingdom at 7.5 billion U.S. dollars, followed by France, Germany and Italy.
