This statistic indicates the share of Adults with self-reporting depression in selected countries as of 2013, by age group. Some 7.5 percent of adults over 65 years of age in the leading five EU-countries have reported depression. This condition may be unnoticed and undiagnosed in the elderly as sadness may not be one of the main symptoms and due to unwillingness to discuss symptoms with a doctor.
