Perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in the Netherlands 2018
The survey results show that in 2015, the majority of violent deaths in the Netherlands did not involve the use of a firearm or a sharp object, such as a knife. Close to 45 percent of deaths through interpersonal violence in 2015 involved other forms of violence. However, the majority of people surveyed perceived firearms to be the most common cause of violent deaths, suggesting that there was a significant gap between perceived and actual causes of violent deaths in the Netherlands.
