In 2019, 77 percent of U.S. consumer app spending in the top 250 apps was spent on subscription apps in the Apple App Store. A further two percent of consumer expenditure was directed towards non-subscription iOS apps. The Apple App Store accounted for the vast majority of app spending, despite trailing the Google Play Store in download volume.
